TRIBUNNEWS.COM, JAKARTA – Some people can’t tell the difference between beser and bed-wetting, as both are related to urination.
So what’s the difference? beser by wetting the bed?
Sub-specialist Urology, Geriatric Division IPD RSCM-FKUI, Prof. dr. Siti Setiati, Sp.U(K), said that beser have signs that indicate an irresistible urge to urinate.
In fact, this can happen many times in the near future.
“Beser is a urinary function disorder, characterized by an unbearable, sudden urge to urinate followed by repeated urination,” said Prof. Siti, in a webinar entitled ‘Beser and Bedwetting in the Elderly and Male Group, Is it Normal?’, Thursday (19/8/2021).
Meanwhile, he said, bedwetting is usually experienced by someone who can’t stand to urinate.
Therefore, he calls the two have differences.

“These two things are similar but not the same, beser it usually hasn’t wet the bed, but if it’s wet it’s a continuation of beser, “said Prof. Siti.
However, not a few elderly (elderly) who experience these two things.
The chairman of the Indonesian Kontinensia Association (PERKINA), Prof. dr. Harrina Erlianti Rahardjo, Sp.U(K), PhD said that if the elderly experience these two things, it certainly needs to be a concern.
That’s because they can have bladder problems.
“Disturbance beser and bedwetting in the elderly is quite influential for them, both in terms of quality of life to the burden of treatment in the community,” said Prof. Harrina.
