Continental hockey leagues (KHL) team Riga “Dinamo“has signed a probationary contract with Patrick Ozola, the best young hockey player of the previous season in the Optibet Hockey League (OHL) (pictured left).

The 20-year-old Ozols scored eight goals in 46 games and returned 15 assists in the previous OHL season with “Zemgale” / LLU.
Ozols has represented Latvia in the U-20 and U-18 national world championships. Before playing for the Jelgava team, he spent one season in the North American Hockey League (NAHL).
The Riga team has gone to Finland, where they will play test matches with Helsinki in the next two days “Jokers25 hockey players went to Finland (three goalkeepers, seven defenders and 15 attackers), while six hockey players, who are currently preparing for the Olympic qualifying tournament as part of the Latvian national team, as well as five injured players stayed at home.

attackers – Daniels Bērziņš, Filips Buncis, Rudolfs Červenijs, Nikolajs Jeļisejevs, Jere Karjalainens, Edgars Kulda, Gints Meija, Emil Puarier, Alexander Protapovich, Lukash Radil, Hunter Shinkaruk, Gunārs Skvorcovs, Jānis Švanenbergs, Peters Tīvola, Sebastians Venstrems.
The Latvian national team is preparing for the Olympic qualification tournament in Riga Oskars Cibulskis, Kārlis Čukste, Ralfs Freibergs, Kristaps Sotnieks, Kristaps Zīle a Lauris Dārziņš. Roberts Mamčics, Ernests Ošenieks, Rīss Skārlets remained in Riga due to injuries and health problems, Mārtiņš Karsums and Patrick Zabusov.
“Dinamo” head coach next season will be a Russian specialist Sergei Zubov, but he will be assisted by Valery Kulibab, Oleg Orehovsky and Edgars Lūsiņš.
The Rigans have not played in the Gagarin Cup for seven consecutive seasons, remaining last place in the league last season.
