By the end of the day, the Minister of Economy Kiril Petkov will demand the resignations of 4 of the 5 members of the Board of Directors of VMZ – Sopot, as well as the executive director of the State Consolidation Company, of which VMZ is part, BNR reported.
This was announced by Minister Petkov after a meeting with the unions in the armory. He went to Sopot to calm social tensions among union members, who said they would protest in Sofia on Tuesday (August 24th). They demand the resignation of the Board of Directors and that VMZ be removed from the DCC.
“Whether we will protest next week will be decided by tomorrow,” said Dimitar Atanasov, leader of the Podkrepa Labor Confederation.
The Minister of Economy explained that since the new board of directors was appointed in April, VMZ has not fulfilled its contracts, has not paid contracts, and the actual losses for several months are about BGN 6 million. “If the board does not resign voluntarily, I can dismiss them. I have no remarks on the work of the executive director Ivan Getsov “, added Minister Kiril Petkov.
