Coronavirus worldwide: Spain vaccinates 70% of people over 12 – World

Australia announced today that it has registered a record number of new cases of coronavirus in the last 24 hours – 754, DPA reported. There are 681 new infections in New South Wales alone.

New South Wales Prime Minister Gladys Beredzhiklyan also announced that another person had died with COVID-19, bringing the number of deaths in the state since the beginning of the pandemic to 117. The recently introduced lockdown in New South Wales will be extended at least until August 28, similar to the similar measure imposed in the US capital Sydney.

Beredzhiklyan stressed that 110,000 doses of vaccine were given in New South Wales yesterday – something she described as a “phenomenal result”. 53 percent of the state’s population has already received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, and 28 percent have been fully vaccinated. Australia has made progress in the fight against the coronavirus due to the extremely stringent measures it has taken, including the closure of borders. However, much of the country’s 25 million people are now in the lockdown due to the spread of the Delta option and the slow progress of the vaccination campaign. Since the beginning of the pandemic in Australia, with a population of 25 million people, more than 40,700 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed. 972 people died.

New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern has announced that authorities have approved the use of the vaccine against COVID-19 by the American company Pfizer in minors aged 12 to 18, DPA reported.

The agency notes that this happened at a time when the country is fighting a new outbreak of coronavirus.
Extending the scope of the vaccination campaign “is safe and right,” Ardern said.
New Zealand went into a lockdown on Tuesday after the discovery of the country’s first case of coronavirus transmission in nearly half a year. The number of those infected in the new outbreak reached 21, with 11 of the cases registered in the last 24 hours, DPA notes.

Since the beginning of the pandemic in New Zealand, with a population of 4.9 million people, about 2580 cases of coronavirus have been confirmed. 26 people died.
