“When the President is absent, flees, resigns or dies, the vice president becomes interim President. I am currently in the country and am the legal executor of the president’s duties,” Saleh wrote via his Twitter account, Tuesday (17/8/2021) local time.
Saleh delivered the message of resistance from his shelter in the Panjshir Valley, one of the Taliban -free territories.
Saleh took refuge with the politician Ahmad Massoud, son of the legendary Afghan resistance hero, Ahmad Shah Massoud.
Saleh said he was trying to establish communication with other Afghan leaders to gain support.
