Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) – With falsified and manipulated prescriptions and bills, a man damaged his private health insurance company by almost 200,000 euros. The 43-year-old man was sentenced on Wednesday by the Frankfurt Regional Court to two years and seven months in prison. The defendant had doctors prescribe particularly expensive medication and had falsified the prescriptions using a special image processing program and stamped them with a pharmacy, even though he had never obtained the medication. Since the beginning of 2018, he has submitted twelve transactions for billing in this way. (AZ 7330 Js 229420/19)

In the trial, which had been going on for several weeks, the defendant had made a comprehensive confession. He justified the acts with his cocaine consumption, with which he was fighting his severe depression. The criminal chamber did not see an option for a suspended sentence: he had already been convicted of similar offenses 17 years ago. According to his own information, the man is now trying to participate in drug therapy. The judgment is already final.
