According to sources, it concerns a witness statement relevant to the case. The witness spoke to the police on 3 June and 2 July this year about the conversation in the prison in Vught. What Jos B. would have told the fellow detainee is not clear, except that it concerns a conversation about ‘the criminal offenses of which the suspect is suspected’.
This can be read in the decision published by the Court of Appeal, which states that one of the judges, the judges of the appeal, is withdrawing. At an earlier stage, the defense counsel assisted the witness, even before he was appointed as a judge.

The Public Prosecution Service, lawyer Gerald Roethof of Jos B. and the lawyer of the Verstappen family do not want to comment further on the new incriminating witness statement at the moment. It can be read in the decision of the Court of Appeal that Jos B. disputes the statement of the witness.

B. (48) has always denied having anything to do with the death of the Limburg boy. 11-year-old Nicky from Heibloem disappeared in 1998 during a summer camp on Brunssummerheide. His body was found a day later near the camp. For years it remained unclear what had happened, until suspect Jos B. was arrested in the summer of 2018, after a DNA match. De Limburger was sentenced to 12.5 years in prison in November last year.
