Holidays delay the achievement of 70% of the Spanish population vaccinated in August
The latest vaccination data reported by Health on Tuesday reflect that 63.2% already have their complete vaccination schedule, which means that 29,968,303 Spaniards have received two doses of any of the Pfizer, Moderna or AstraZeneca vaccines, or one, in the case of the Janssen single-dose, compared to the almost 33 million that represent 70% the population of our country.
Besides, 73.5% have at least one dose -in total, 34,867,478 people-, a percentage that has increased in the last weeks thanks to the vaccination of the age group from 12 to 19 years.
45.9% of these young people already have a puncture (8.2% are fully vaccinated). On the same day of the previous week, this figure stood at 27.4% of young people in the same group (5% with the complete pattern) and, two weeks before, this figure reached 15.7% of people from between 12 and 19 (3.5% fully vaccinated).
Thus progresses the vaccination of the group that for weeks has reached record accumulated incidence figures to 14 days -exceeding 2,000 cases per 100,000 inhabitants in some autonomous communities in July- and is preparing for the next school year.
Vaccine without appointment
To speed up inoculation in the final stretch of summer vacation, several communities have launched walk-in vaccination, such as Andalusia, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Canary Islands, Madrid or Murcia, some of them for the second dose, while others for the first or for those over 12 years old.
However, in some of these vaccination points where it is allowed to go without an appointment, the doses are not exhausted either.
This is the case, for example, of the Fira de Barcelona, where last Thursday only half of the first available doses were administered, and 14% of those who were supposed to receive the second puncture did not show up for the call, according to EFE
