Long hospital stay
– I went on a fucking bang and have been in hospital for three months, the artist says in the interview.
The 67-year-old says that he was affected by something called cavernous angioma, a vascular malformation in the spinal cord that has only grown bigger and bigger.
– In the end, it became very large and took up 75 percent of the spinal cord. In good Swedish I would say it hurt like hell. So I decided that what I really needed to do was remove it.

The artist was aware that an operation would involve risk, including paralysis, but he still chose to carry it out. What happened, however, was that the surgeons came too close to the nerves – so that he was paralyzed on the right side of the body.
– Since the signaling system in the body has not worked, the nerves have not been able to give the right impulses to the muscles in the legs and arms, Glenmark explains.
Thus, he ended up in a wheelchair, and since then he has worked hard to get back to normal.
– You have to learn everything again, such as dressing yourself, eating and going to the bathroom.
