The Spanish pilot Carlos Sainz (Acciona Sainz XE Team) told a virtual press conference that during the next Extreme E test, which will take place in Greenland from August 28 to 29, he would like to “have a better race” and that he hopes “to have more luck” than in the previous event, contested at Lac Rose (Senegal) while praising his son’s role in Formula 1 with Ferrari.
The two-time world rally champion gave his opinion on the possibility of extending the Extreme E parity to other competitions: “This format is well received. It is a good idea that can be transferred to other car competitions. Time will decide if you can think of other types of competitions. ”
Currently, Carlos Sainz is immersed in the Extreme E and is preparing the start of the season with Audi for the next Dakar. “I sincerely try to combine the two options in the best possible way. From the Extreme E, there are three races left. After going to Greenland, I will focus more on Audi and the testing in Morocco. See how we can arrive in the best prepared way by the end of the year. It’s a tough challenge, but it’s motivating enough to take it on, ”he said.
“There is no freedom to test or play with different things in the car. It’s hard when you’re used to having a car that gives you more confidence. Adjust it the way you like it best. And the tuning of the cars, ”he said, of the inability to tune the Extreme E cars to the driver’s preferences.
Finally, Carlos Sainz also had some words about the season his son is doing in Formula 1 with the Ferrari team. “My son is very happy. I think he adapted quite well. He must be satisfied with the work accomplished. Everything will be better and it is very calm, failing to complete the second part of the season, ”he said with pride.
