Kattas meow rescued 83-year-old

On Saturday this week, an 83-year-old woman fell into a 21-meter-deep gorge near her home in Cornwall, England.

Thanks to the meow of the woman’s cat Piran, she was spotted by a person who lived nearby, informs the police on their Facebook page.

– The cat Piran saved the day, the police write on Facebook.

Neighbors contacted the emergency services on Saturday afternoon, after the woman had been missing for over an hour.

The 83-year-old had fallen down a very steep gorge, which made the rescue work demanding. Cornwall Fire and Rescue Service was present, along with its specialized water rescue team, Cornwall Air Ambulance and Southwest Ambulance Service (SWAST).

The woman was hoisted up on a stretcher by firefighters and transported to hospital by air ambulance. The condition was then described as stable by the police.

– A massive “well done” to the emergency services who worked together, and to Piran. The outcome could have been much worse, says a witness to the BBC.

The police inform on their Facebook page that the woman still receives follow-up, but that she is in good spirits and is well taken care of.
