The world’s tallest glass outdoor deck opens in New York

The Edge, the world’s highest glass observation deck (partially), opens today to the public, offering visitors the opportunity to see and experience New York City like never before. With a glass floor, glass walls and a champagne bar, at 325 meters high, visitors can enjoy a 360-degree view of the iconic New York skyline.

Edge: a glass outer deck 325 meters high

The Edge pierces the sky at a record height of 325 meters, the building itself has a hundred floors. Here you as a visitor experience a unique view of New York City, Western New Jersey and the state of New York. You can discover the Big Apple below you as you walk across the glass floor or enjoy the view of New York that extends for about 130 meters.

“You’ve never experienced New York like this before,” said Jason Horkin, Executive Director of Hudson Yards Experiences. “Step onto Edge’s platform is like walking up into the air. The entire experience is designed to inspire visitors and spark a new passion for New York City with multiple, built-in thrilling elements that ensure The Edge earns a spot on every traveler’s bucket list as an unrivaled attraction.”

The Edge will be open seven days a week, year-round, from 8 a.m. to midnight. General adult admission tickets cost $36 online and $38 when purchased on site.

Brilliant piece of architecture enriches New York skyline

Designed by William Pedersen and Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF) and stretching 25 meters from the 100th floor of 30 Hudson Yards, The Edge redefines the New York skyline. The observation deck, which weighs 347,000 kilograms, consists of fifteen sections of 16,000 to 45,000 kilograms each bolted together and anchored to the east and south sides of the building. The 697 square meter observation deck is surrounded by 79 glass panels, each weighing 635 kilograms, manufactured in Germany and finished in Italy. The interiors of The Edge and Peak were designed by Rockwell Group.

A champagne bar, located on the 100th floor, offers visitors a glass of champagne, a signature cocktail or light snacks to enjoy indoors or out on the observation deck. The champagne bar is managed by the Rhubarb hospitality group from London. Rhubarb will also manage Peak: the restaurant, bar, cafe and event space on the 101st floor.

The Edge is the new hub of Hudson Yards, the 28-acre neighborhood on Manhattan’s West Side that brings together fashion, dining and cultural experiences. You’ll also find headquarters of dozens of leading companies in the district, as well as thousands of homes, 14 acres of public parks and interactive public spaces and attractions.
