It’s official since Tuesday morning: Tammy Abraham has signed up with AS Roma, who spent more than 40 million euros (+ bonus) to recruit the Chelsea striker. The amount of the transaction makes him the most expensive rookie in Giallorossi history, positioning himself more or less at the same level as Czech Patrik Schick in 2017. Abraham has “signed a contract until June 30, 2026“, says Roma on its website.
“It feels when a club really wants you, and Roma have shown it to me unequivocally“, indicates the Englishman, quoted by the club. The arrival of Abraham at Roma concludes a triangular movement which saw Romelu Lukaku leave Inter Milan for Chelsea then Edin Dzeko from Roma to succeed the Belgian at the Nerazzurri: The England international (6 caps) will inherit the N.9 left free by the Bosnian.

At Chelsea, Abraham was generally little used by Thomas Tuchel and saw his horizon become increasingly blocked with the arrival of the star Lukaku. He has scored 30 goals in 82 appearances for the “Blues” since his debut in 2016, but he lived his most prolific season as a professional in the jersey of Aston Villa, where he was loaned in the second division, with 25 goals scored in 2018-19.
