In Bratislava, not far from the stadium at Pasienky, on Tuesday the management of the Slovak Handball Association (SZH) ceremoniously opened a new sports hall.

In recent months, several interstate handball meetings have already taken place in it, but its official opening has only come now. The importance of the new stand for SZH is also increased by the fact that it will house a permanent exhibition of the Hall of Fame of SZH, to which 48 personalities have already introduced in the past 10 years.

“We are looking forward to the fact that something like this has succeeded, because in the last twenty years, sports venues have rather been disrupted and liquidated, not only in Bratislava. The fact that a new hall was created is one of the pleasing points. , but it’s more in the rescue of sports in Slovakia. We are very happy for that. “ stated the president of SZH Jaroslav Holeša for the official website of the association.

The hall on Junácká Street is the property of SZH, but it is not exclusively intended for handball. “We presented to the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic a pilot project of a double hall, which is for all indoor sports, but not only team, but also individual. During the week it is used for training and on weekends for matches.” added Holeš to the multi-purpose use of the new sports ground.

Participants in the January European Handball Championships will also experience this. “This is also the reason why she grew up here and not somewhere else. Bratislava will host two basic groups in January 2022 with the participation of eight teams, to whom we must provide training facilities for at least an hour every day. We do not have another handball hall in the capital. “Only pastures that are in long-term reconstruction. So we’re glad we made it and we don’t have to be ashamed of it in front of a Spanish, Swedish or German team.” remarked the head of SZH.

The new hall in the Slovak capital was also welcomed by representatives of sports in Slovakia. “It’s great that a new sports stand has been built. It is located in a place where there are many sports grounds. Sadly, there are more in the past, but this is a trend that we as a sports community have no chance to influence. The positive is The multifunctionality of the hall. It will play handball, volleyball, floorball and gymnasts should also appear in it. It fulfills the trend of modern simple construction with stretch stands. “ said Ivan Husár, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic (MŠVVaŠ SR) for sports on the margo hall, the construction of which took less time than all related processes.

The president of the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOŠV) Anton Siekel did not hide his joy either: “I am glad that the idea a few years ago officially saw the light of day in real form today and we are at the opening of a multi-sports hall, of which not only Bratislava but also the whole of Slovakia can take an example. It is proof that when forces and people come together I believe that it will find its athletes and fans, and people will appreciate that someone has contributed to the fact that the hall is standing here. in addition to training, it can accept extra-league and youth clubs in long-term competitions, it is a recipe for regional and, to some extent, also for district cities. Individual sports will also find their background here. “

The hall will house a permanent exhibition of the Slovak Handball Hall of Fame, which has been introduced by 48 personalities in the past 10 years. “It was our idea and we did it on purpose. It is said that one should not invent what is invented. For many years we were looking for an exhibition for our Hall of Fame. When we managed to get a grant to build a hall, we decided that We believe that people will like it, it is located near the SOŠV museum, with which we would like to cooperate, I believe that it will also be attended by school excursions, we want young and old people to see that handball is a great sport , in the former Czechoslovakia, even with great importance and with prominent personalities – medalists from the World Championships and the Olympic Games, “ added Holeša.
