In the end, the graphics from Intel will not be called Xe, but ARC

Intel has officially introduced a graphics card brand (actually a brand, not the card itself), which will be called ARC. Contrary to expectations, Xe will not be the main logo on the boxes. Intel’s GPU nomenclature is starting to get a little complicated because:

  • The graphics card is generally referred to by Intel as the Xe
  • The brand under which gaming graphics cards will be sold is ARC
  • according to the type of focus are divided into:
    • LP (low-power)
    • HP (high-performance)
    • HPG (high-performance gaming) – cards for players
    • HPC
  • Intel’s architectural generation stands for:
  • architecture as:
    • Alchemist (for 2022)
    • Battlemage (2023?)
    • Celestial
    • Druid
  • In addition, there are generations of HP accelerators called:
    • Arctic Sound (perhaps corresponding to the Gen12 architectural generation)
    • Jupiter Sound (perhaps corresponding to the architectural generation of Gen13)
  • then code names, for example:
  • finally, marking for individual cards such as:
    • DG1 (discrete graphic 1)
    • DG2 (discrete graphic 2)
    • […]

It is not entirely banal to use nomenclature as the structure and overlaps of meaning.

The introductory image probably captures variants with 128 EU and 512 EU. However, Intel has not yet officially confirmed the specifications, we have to wait until the end of this year. The cards themselves (for desktops and laptops) will then be issued at the beginning of 2022.

If you wanted to give your Intel graphics card under the tree, don’t despair. While you wait for the card, enjoy you can buy T-shirts with the ARC logo under the tree.
