Taliban Agrees to Allow Evacuation of Civilians at Afghanistan’s Kabul Airport

ACCEPT – Head of Central Command United States of America (USA) General Frank McKenzie meets senior Taliban leaders in the Qatari capital, Doha. They reached an agreement that Afghanistan’s evacuation efforts could continue without interruption.

General Frank McKenzie’s meeting with the Taliban was reported Associated Press (AP) who quoted a defense official anonymously.

The situation at Hamid Karzai International Airport in Kabul became even more chaotic as embassies in Afghanistan closed, sending foreign embassy staff pouring into the airport, joining tens of thousands of Afghans desperate to get out of the country.

US officials say seven people died, including several who hung from the wheels of a US military jet and fell to the ground as the plane took off.

Bystander video from the scene showed hundreds of people running across the runway, and people sitting on passenger jets, despite civil air travel being suspended.
