After offering end-to-end encryption for written conversations on Messenger, Facebook is adding this feature for audio and video calls to the messaging app. This means that no one other than us and our interlocutor will be able to access the content of our conversation.
With the Covid-19 pandemic, the popularity of video calling apps has exploded.
However, for many people and businesses, these calls may contain confidential content and the fear of a security breach is very real.
It is with this in mind that Facebook announced, on its blog, that it now offers the possibility of encrypting our video and audio calls on Messenger.
From a secret conversation, you can encrypt a video or audio call on Messenger.

At the time of this writing, the encryption feature for audio and video chats is being rolled out by Facebook to Messenger gradually.
To use it, just start a secret conversation with the person of our choice and select the video or audio call option.
Once the call is initiated into a secret conversation, it will be end-to-end encrypted. This means that only us and our interlocutor will be able to access the content of the call.
Facebook stipulates that even they will not be able to access the content of the conversation. However, in the event of abuse in a conversation, it will still be possible to report a user.
On its blog, Facebook also claims that it will soon offer the function for group calls.
