The concert will be opened by the festival’s debutants – group “Raxtu Raxti“- in a new role and with a concert program that has not yet been announced. During the pandemic, the band has been working on the album” Middle Sun “, and the festival visitors will be the first listeners.
“These are Latvian folk songs arranged by” Raxtu Raxtu “. Previously, our repertoire included music by Imants Kalniņš and other Latvian authors, as well as a folk song. And this is in some way an experiment for ourselves, maybe less for me, such folk musicians as me and my brother Edgars, “the group member and vocalist Kristīne-Kārkle Kalniņa introduces the upcoming one.
The second part of the event will be sung in other years of the festival and the Viking Queen, one of the most recognizable symbols of the Faroe Islands – the singer Eivør, who was once known in the show “Skaņusaite”. The Saulkrasti choir “Anima” will perform with him in five compositions.
The concert will also feature a work written especially for Eivør’s voice, choir and contemporary. Its author, artistic director and conductor of the choir “Anima” Laura Leontjeva says: “The message of this song was very clear. It was harder to find the lyrics of folk songs. I read a lot, read a lot, we can each be the sun and we can still resist the temptation to become the sun that is dirty, to become the sun that is swaying, to become the sun that loses its radiance, because it is very, very easy to lose spiritual purity now. the most important thing seems to be – we keep the light in ourselves and radiate it. “
