Mariana toro

(CNN Spanish) – While some countries advance with the application of a third dose of the covid-19 vaccine, others open the eligibility for minors and in others develop vaccination campaigns sponsored by the private sector.

This is how vaccination is going in Latin America, according to figures from Our World in Data cut to August 14.

Covid-19 vaccination rates

31.2% of the world’s population, on average, is vaccinated with at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine.

The average improves if only the countries of North America, which reach 51.49%, and South America, which have 48.11% of the population at least partially vaccinated, are taken.

These are the population rates with at least one dose of the covid-19 vaccine per country:

Uruguay 75.28% Chile 74.32% Argentina 58.78% Panama 57.23% Ecuador 56.42% Brazil 54.63% Costa Rica 54.59% Dominican Republic 52.25% El Salvador 49.56% Cuba 41 , 95% Mexico 41.76% Colombia 40.12% Guyana 35.53% Suriname 32.90% Peru 27.77% Paraguay 25.75% Bolivia 25.51% Honduras 22.95% Guatemala 14.87% Nicaragua 8 , 76% Haiti 0.16% Note: No updated figures for Venezuela were found in Our World in Data

For comparison, Singapore has a vaccination rate of 76.67%, Spain of 73.69% (less than Uruguay and Chile), the United States of 59.20%, New Zealand of 29.96% (less than Mexico and Colombia) and Thailand of 25.35% (less than Peru, Paraguay and Bolivia).
