Former German footballer Gerd Muller, champion of Europe and the world for Germany, died this Sunday, aged 75, announced Bayern Munich, his only club in the German top flight.
The “bombardier”, as he was known, is still the best scorer in the history of the German league, with 365 goals for the Bavarians, in which he scored 566 times in 607 official games.
Muller, who arrived at Bayern in 1964, won three European Cups, a Cup Winners Cup, an Intercontinental Cup, four championships and four German Cups, winning the 1972 European and 1974 World Cups, in which he scored the goal decisive in the final against the Netherlands.
With the mannschaft, Muller has scored 68 goals in 62 games.
After starting his career at TSV 1861 Nördlingen, Muller spent 14 and a half seasons at Bayern, ending his career in the United States with the Fort Lauderdale Strikers.
