Fadli Zon ask all parties not to overreact to the mural ‘Jokowi 404: Not Found‘ in Tangerang, which had gone viral on social media. Fadli also said that the authorities do not need to look for the mural maker because it is a form of freedom of expression.
“Don’t overreact to murals, paintings, posters, memes and other artistic expressions. That’s part of cultural expression,” said Fadli Zon via his Twitter account, @fadlizon. Fadli Zon has allowed his tweet to be quoted.
He assessed that excessive responses would actually reduce the people’s right to opinion and free expression. He also admitted that he was surprised because the President was not a symbol of the state.
“Indeed, excessive responses reduce the people’s right to express attitudes/opinions or freedom of expression. After all, the President is not a symbol of the state. He said democracy?” said Fadli Zon.
The Gerindra politician also asked the authorities not to look for the mural maker. According to him, no party was harmed by the mural.
“In my opinion, there is no need to look for the maker. This is a cultural expression and is still within the corridor of democracy. After all, who is harmed? Those who are harmed must report it,” he said.
Fadli Zon again reminded the government not to reduce the people’s rights to democracy. “Don’t reduce people’s rights. Our democracy has been ranking 102 out of hundreds of countries, so you don’t have to be baper,” he said.
Mural Jokowi ‘404: Not Found’
A mural with a face resembling President Jokowi became a scene. The mural is in Tangerang City. The eyes of the face on the mural were covered with the words ‘404: Not Found’.
The Head of Subdivision of Public Relations of the Tangerang Tangerang City Police, Kompol Abdul Rachim, confirmed the mural. However, the mural has now been removed by local authorities.
“It’s been three or four days, yes. So the Kapolsek, from the sub-district, then the Koramil has deleted it,” said Rachim when contacted detik.com, Friday (13/8).
