Teruo Nakamura merupakan prajurit Jepang asal Taiwan, yang bersembunyi di hutan Desa Pilowo, Kepulauan Morotai hingga ditemukan kembali pada 1974. Ia tak tahu perang telah selesai, dan selama 30 tahun bersembunyi di hutan dan goa-goa di Morotai.
Teruo Nakamura menjadi tentara sukarelawan Jepang ketika berusia 22 tahun. Saat itu, tahun 1942 dan Taiwan menjadi daerah koloni kekaisaran Jepang.

Nakamura was born in Taiwan, Republic of China on October 8, 1919. He was born with the name Attun Palalin, while many Taiwanese media referred to him as Lee Guang-Hui. Nakamura is from the Ami Tribe, an indigenous Taiwanese who are used to living by hunting.
In November 1943, while Japan was occupying Taiwan, Nakamura was drafted into the military which saw him enlist in a volunteer unit of Takasago of the Imperial Japanese Army. At that time he was stationed on the island of Morotai, the Dutch East Indies. By joining the Japanese military corps he also got the name Teruo Nakamura.
