Strongly affected by the earthquake on August 14, 2021, hospitals in the Great South are in great difficulty.
More than fifty doctors working at the general hospital of Port au Prince are moving this Saturday to help the wounded and other people requiring medical assistance. However, doubts persist as to the availability of physical structures that can accommodate them given the dilapidated state of some hospitals.
Faced with this situation, the Bernard Mevs hospital informs in a note that all its resources are available to the victims.
“To the victims of Les Cayes, Jérémie and all other affected regions of the country, the Bernard Mevs / project MEDISHARE hospital expresses its sympathies and solidarity.
We put all our resources at your disposal to help with medical follow-ups. “
Zanmi Lasante, one of the most important health institutions in the country, agrees.
“Zanmi Lasante’s health facilities are open and were not affected by the earthquake this morning.
We prepare our sites for inbound patients and work closely with our partners in the field to determine needs and establish support. Updates will be posted to these sites twice a day. “
It should be noted that several hospitals in the department of the West, in particular in Petit Goave and Grand Goave, have already sent materials and personnel to help the victims, according to Dr. Benêche Martial, health director of the West.
