In his article, the Russian president writes that Ukraine is an artificial creation
The Russian president wrote a 5,000-word article entitled “On the Historical Unity of Russians and Ukrainians.” Vladimir Putin did this after promising during his last direct line with citizens that he would publish analytical material on Russia and Ukraine, where he would present his attitude to the current situation. The text was immediately posted on the Kremlin’s website.
In the article, the Russian leader summarizes in detail his favorite ideas: there is no such thing as a separate Ukrainian people, they are one with the Russians, the state of Ukraine is an artificial creation, lucky in history, which
must be
grateful to Russia
that she allowed it
to exist
“I would like to emphasize at once that I perceive the wall that has emerged in recent years between Russia and Ukraine, between parts of a historical and spiritual space, as a great common misfortune, as a tragedy. These are, first and foremost, the consequences of our own mistakes made at different times, but also the result of the purposeful work of those forces that have always sought to undermine our unity. The formula used has been known since time immemorial:
Divide and Rule
Nothing new. Hence the attempts to play on the national question, to sow discord between people. And as an overriding task – to divide and then to adjust and fight against each other parts of a nation, “Putin insists.
According to the Russian leader, the ouster of pro-Kremlin President Viktor Yanukovych in February 2014 was the culmination of a centuries-old Western conspiracy to create in Ukraine what Putin calls “anti-Russia” – rhetoric to pressure and deter his country.
Vladimir Putin believes that since 2014, Ukraine is not sovereign and finds itself under “external governance” – a code word for the United States, on which the EU plays an assistant.
“Moscow will not tolerate this … There are millions of Ukrainians who do not like this state of affairs and long to embrace Russia,” the Kremlin boss wrote.
Experts believe that the article carries
the clear seal
of thinking of
Russian special services,
as it contains a combination of imperial ambitions, a firm belief that money rules the world, and bizarre conspiracy theories, Deutsche Welle notes.
“Modern Ukraine is entirely a product of the Soviet era. We know and remember that it was largely created at the expense of historical Russia. It is enough to compare which lands were reunited with the Russian state in the 17th century and with which territories the Ukrainian SSR left the Soviet Union, “the Russian president said.
According to him, Ukraine and Russia have been developing for centuries as a single economic system, and the depth of cooperation from 30 years ago could be the envy of the EU.
“I recall that long ago, long before 2014, the United States and EU countries systematically and consistently pushed Ukraine to limit and limit economic cooperation with Russia. We, as Ukraine’s largest trade and economic partner, have proposed to discuss the emerging problems in the Ukraine-Russia-EU format. But each time we were told that Russia had nothing to do with it and that it only affected the EU and Ukraine. In fact, Western countries have rejected Russia’s repeated calls for dialogue. Step by step, Ukraine has been drawn into a dangerous geopolitical game aimed at turning it into a barrier between Europe and Russia, a springboard against Russia. Inevitably, the time came when the concept of “Ukraine is not Russia” was no longer an option. “There was a need for an ‘anti-Russian’ concept that we will never accept,” Putin said. According to him, the most disgusting thing was that the Russians in Ukraine were forced not only
to deny their own
roots, generations of
their ancestors, but also
to believe that Russia
is their enemy
Putin is convinced that Ukraine is undergoing militarization, direct external control has been introduced, including oversight of the authorities and the armed forces. All this, he said, is happening against the background of creating an atmosphere of fear, aggressive rhetoric and condescension towards neo-Nazis in Ukrainian society.
“It simply came to our notice then
the absorption of
the remnants of
the Ukrainian
exploitation of its natural resources. The sale of agricultural land and who will buy it – this is obvious. Yes, from time to time Ukraine is allocated funds, loans, but under their conditions and interests, with preferences and benefits for Western companies.
By the way, who will pay these debts? “Obviously, this is supposed to have to be done not only by today’s generation of Ukrainians, but also by their children, grandchildren, and, probably, great-grandchildren,” Putin said anxiously.
The Russian leader is convinced that Kiev no longer needs Donbass and describes in detail why: “First, the people of these regions will never accept the order they have tried and are trying to impose by force, blockade and threats. And secondly, the results of Minsk-1 and Minsk-2, which give a real chance for the peaceful restoration of Ukraine’s territorial integrity by reaching an agreement directly with the DPR and LPR with Russia, Germany and France as mediators, contradict the whole logic of the anti-Russian project. . And this can only be maintained by constantly cultivating the image of an internal and external enemy. And I would add – under the protection and control of Western powers.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky announced that despite the fraternal relations of the population of the two countries mentioned by Putin, the Russian actions are anything but fraternal.
“They look more like Cain and Abel,” Zelensky said.
