In the concert “Brāli Brāļi” honors the great brothers of choir music Kokarus / Article

Imants and Gido Kokari, choral musicians, will be honored with their festive song evening “BrāliBrāli” on August 14 at 9 pm on the Grand Stage of Mežaparks on their centenary. You will be able to follow the concert live on the portal LSM.lv.

Leonid Wigner did not know physics at the time, according to Kokari. “Voices and the surface!” exclaimed Kokari. “A small group can’t sing, isn’t that great !? Are we in danger of failure ?! Where does the sound come from ?! ” Imants Kokars clapped his hands and screamed. The acoustics come from the roof, from behind. Sound needs a surface! To prove what has long been known in nature, Kokari once thinned “Ave Sol” to stand on the Grand Stage. The whole choir seemed to be singing. Even brighter! It sounded like an organ all over the stage. Acoustic surface required. So that the sound has a place to beat, so that the voice can be heard. Let there be a surface! Ideally, it would be if the singers could enter every second line. It’s an acoustic thing. It was called Kokari, ”writes Laima Muktupāvels in his book“ Brālibrāli ”.

“We at this event, too,” Brother Brother. For Kokari – 200 ”we will confirm this important and intriguing fact, Kokari’s indelible zeal to look for new horizons of choral music sound. In the concert, the Latvian Conductors’ Choir, which gathers especially in honor of this evening, embodies Kokari’s heritage and keeps it alive every day in cooperation with its special choirs, ”explained director Juris Jonelis.

The almost two-hour-long evening of songs will feature the choir’s favorite choral songs, performed by the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol” and the Latvian Conductors’ Choir consisting of about 400 singers, conducted by seventeen chief conductors.

Composers Mārtiņš Brauns, Arturs Maskats, Zigmars Liepiņš and Raimonds Tiguls will also take part in their compositions. The evening will be permeated by the “winged” sayings and stories of their lives. It will be conducted by the former singer of the Riga Chamber Choir “Ave Sol”, musicologist Liene Jakovļeva and musicologist, program manager of Latvian Radio “Klasika” Orests Silabriedis. The creative group of the concert is led by conductor Romans Vanags, as well as Mārtiņš Klišāns and Ints Teterovskis.

National on-site epidemiological safety regulations must be followed when attending the event; The event is open to persons who will be able to present a valid Covid-19 vaccination or disease certificate on the day of the event (“green” security level).

The concert will be available on television on August 16 at 8.40 pm on LTV1 and REplay.lv.
