The semi-finals go from the CONCAChampions saw America afford a small mattress for a new 100% Mexican final.
Last non-Mexican survivor of the last square, Philadelphia was going toAzteca to try to stay alive for the return home in a month. Unfortunately for theUnion, Santiago Solari had decided to keep his promise to send his best possible team in order to recall that for theAmerica, the CONCAChampions is serious business. It remains that on the ground, theAmerica is not yet a steamroller, continues to question despite the results. His luck was that the last survivor of the MLS mainly sought to counter and hold on as much as possible, relying as often on the excellent André Blake in the cages. A strategy that lasted a quarter of an hour despite the fact that the first big situation of the match, from the start, had been for theUnion, Przybyłko moving to nothing to redo the shotAtlanta. So it took a missile from Richard Richard Sánchez to deliver theAzteca and kill the visitors’ defensive strategy. Yet the Eagles did not take advantage of it. No doubt because their season has only just begun and cruising speed is still far from being reached, theAmerica quickly declined in intensity, struggling to truly produce a game like the duo Aquino-Fidalgo, often essential, but little in sight. Philadelphia was even able to obtain a few situations, perfectly saved by a Memo Ochoa still impeccable, before slowing down in turn in the second half, during which Roger Martínez was more prominent. THE’America ends up offering a more comfortable mattress for the return thanks to a penalty awarded after intervention of the VAR ten minutes from the end. A penalty transformed by Emmanuel Aguilera who offers his team two goals ahead of the return to States in a month and therefore a very favorable waiver for the final.
A final which will propose a Mexican opponent. Because the other semi-final, which opened the week, opposed the Striped To Blue Cross, like a rehearsal of what could be a championship final between two contenders. At the Steel Giant, the Striped posed their trio of fire associating Maxi Meze, Duván Vergara and Rogelio Funes Mori, offering a crazy first quarter of an hour where we saw Rogelio find the post of Gudiño then Maxi Meza open the scoring on a perfect serve from Charly Rodríguez in the next minute. Javier Aguirre’s men controlled the tempo, knew how to solicit the porter of Blue Cross but expose yourself to a few blocks, like this strike in first intention by Juan Escobar who fled the frame or this lob missed by Little head Rodríguez a few moments later. The scenario was not going to change, the Striped finally creating quite a few clear chances, the only ones, for Funes Mori having gone out by Gudiño, and the score no longer changed, thus giving Monterrey a tiny advance before getting to theAzteca in a month.
