Hanoi (VNA) – The recovery of many cities and states in Brazil after a rapid campaign of vaccination is opening opportunities for exporters of the Tra fish (Pangasius) from Vietnam to that market.
The Vietnam Seafood Exporters and Producers Association (VASEP) evaluated Brazil as one of the most potential markets in this area, when its exports to the European Union and China have faced difficulties in the first half of this year.
According to the entity, cited by the newspaper Nhan Dan (Pueblo), until the first half of July, the volume of exports of this fish without scales to the South American nation totaled about 35 million 500 thousand dollars, a year-on-year increase of 86.8 percent.
Currently, a third of the country’s population wants to buy nutritious and healthy frozen seafood such as pangasius. The BrazilPeople are willing to pay higher prices for good quality, healthy and nutritious processed or frozen products.
In the first half of this year, about 20 Vietnamese companies exported pangasius to the Brazilian market, mainly frozen fillets. The local demand for processed products is also growing strongly.
VASEP considered that the rapid recovery of Brazil will facilitate the increase in exports of
pangasius nationals to that market.
To seize the opportunity, exporting companies must stabilize production and find measures to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic, he stressed. /.
