50,000 people accept $ 100 for vaccination in New York

After the metropolis of New York introduced a vaccination incentive of 100 dollars (around 85 euros) at the end of July, around 50,000 people have already accepted this offer. Mayor Bill de Blasio announced this today and celebrated the offer of municipal vaccination centers as a great success.

US President Joe Biden had urged states, counties and parishes nationwide to offer such a reward. In total, around 73 percent of all adults in the metropolis of New York with around 8.5 million inhabitants, which became the center of the pandemic last spring, are already fully vaccinated.

US government is promoting compulsory vaccination by employers

The US government has expressly encouraged employers to require their employees to be vaccinated against the coronavirus. It is in the power of employers “to help end the pandemic,” White House CoV coordinator Jeffrey Zients said today.

The previously announced regulations by companies, states, municipalities, universities and hospitals have already required tens of millions of Americans to be vaccinated. “It is clear that compulsory vaccination is on the rise across the country,” said Zients. The vaccinations would protect people and “help stop the virus from spreading”.

The US government has already committed its own employees to vaccinate or regularly test for CoV infection. The Ministry of Defense wants to introduce compulsory vaccination for soldiers by mid-September at the latest.

The US vaccination campaign is making very slow progress. So far, 50.3 percent of the population of around 330 million people there have been vaccinated. The vaccinations are approved for adolescents from the age of twelve and adults. In the population group aged twelve and over, 59 percent are fully vaccinated.
