WhatsApp has taken advantage of the Samsung Unpacked event to present to the world one of the most anticipated novelties by users: the option to transfer chats from iPhone to Android, and vice versa, in a simpler way and without having to resort to third-party tools.
It is curious that WhatsApp has chosen this event to announce the arrival of this function, everything makes a certain sense if we take into account that the option to transfer chats between platforms will be available first on Samsung smartphones, before reaching the rest of the devices.
The option in question will be available over the next few weeks, and will allow the transfer of chat history when changing mobile and platform. It will also allow the transfer of voice memos and images, and all content will remain end-to-end encrypted.
This feature will be available on Android devices first, starting with Samsung smartphones running an Android version equal to or higher than Android 10.
However, the feature will arrive in the version of WhatsApp for iOS shortly after.
Keep in mind that, in order to transfer the chats, it will be necessary to use a USB Type C to Lightning cable, and at the moment there will be no way to transfer over the Internet wirelessly. In addition, there are some disadvantages when using this method, because if you have transferred between iOS and Android in the past, if there are two different backups in the cloud, the new transfer function will not merge them into a single history chat.
