LONDON (AP) – Newly promoted to the Premier League, the Brentford club signed winger Yoane Wissa for four years on Tuesday.
The 24-year-old international, who represents Congo, joins the West London club from France’s Lorient for an undisclosed figure. The agreement includes an option for the fifth year.
Wissa has scored 27 goals in her last two seasons in France and can play multiple positions.
“He has the pace and power that we think will be important to be a threat from behind,” said Brentford manager Thomas Frank. “He has a great ability to pressure players and create overloads. He will need to learn our style of play, but it fits into the scheme that we need of a winger, forward and a 10 ”.
Wissa, who was the victim of a freak attack at his home last month, was one of Lorient’s best players last season as the team avoided relegation to the second division.
Born in Paris, Wissa made her debut for the Democratic Republic of Congo last October.
