ECHL | Senators affiliate with Atlanta Gladiators

(Ottawa) The Ottawa Senators and their American Hockey League school club, the Belleville Senators, have reached an agreement to join the Atlanta Gladiators for one season in the ECHL.

The Senators had lost their partner in the ECHL following the disbandment of the Brampton Beast due to financial consequences related to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Beast had decided not to participate in the 2020-21 ECHL season due to the pandemic and it finally closed its doors on February 18.

The Gladiators also put an end to the 2020-21 campaign, but they will return to service this fall. They were affiliated with the Boston Bruins from 2015 to 2020.

“Our hopes spending time in ECHL in 2021-22 may be guided by Jeff Pyle’s coaching staff and we know they will have a positive impact on the development of our players,” said GM. of the Senators, Pierre Dorion, in a press release.

Founded in 1995 as the Mysticks of Mobile, the team moved to Georgia in 2003 and became the Gwinnett Gladiators. She was renamed Atlanta Gladiators in 2015 and plays at Gas South Arena in Duluth, Georgia.

The Gladiators’ regular schedule kicks off on October 23 against the Solar Bears in Orlando.
