“Blood donations have become very scarce, we can no longer serve some blood groups!” Was the call for help from Antje Rettig, area officer of the blood donation service of the German Red Cross (DRK). The Martha-Maria Hospital in Halle (Saale) has therefore decided to help and, in cooperation with the DRK, offer a blood donation appointment only for local staff.
Today the large event hall of the hospital will therefore be set up as a blood donation center between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. 4 people can donate at the same time. The DRK provides the staff, material and loungers for this. The appeal of the management met with a positive response from the employees of Martha-Maria: The DRK had expected around 30 donors, but 48 Martha-Maria employees have registered to donate blood tomorrow.
