The case is being updated.
The Taliban claims to have taken control of the city of Kunduz on Sunday morning, according to a social media announcement.
The rebels are said to have taken over the government forces’ armored vehicles, weapons and military equipment, it is stated in the announcement.

Heavy fighting is taking place on Sunday morning between Afghan government forces and the Taliban in the center of the city of Kunduz, local authorities say.
– Strong street fights are taking place in different parts of the city. Some security forces have withdrawn towards the airport, Amruddin Wali, a member of the provincial council, told AFP.
The Taliban have captured two provincial capitals in recent days, but if they take Kunduz farthest north, it would be their most important conquest since foreign forces began withdrawing in May.
On Friday they took Zaranj in Nimroz, and on Saturday they followed up with capturing Sheberghan in Jawzjan province.
