Two months after the tragedy, justice advances. A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged in the traffic accident that killed American actress Lisa Banes in June in Manhattan, New York police said on Friday. The man was arrested Thursday and charged with refusing to give way to a pedestrian and hit and run after a fatal accident, a police spokesperson told AFP.
Lisa Banes, 65, who was visiting New York City on June 4, suffered a head trauma as a result of the crash, caused by a two-wheeler that ran a red light as she went was hired to cross the street. She was dead ten days later. The accident had taken place near the Lincoln Center cultural center, in the Upper West Side neighborhood of Manhattan.
A call for witnesses launched
As Lisa Banes fought for survival in hospital, his wife, Kathryn Kranhold appealed for witnesses in the newspaper The Daily News, to find the driver of the scooter.
Lisa Banes had acted in numerous films, in cinema and in the theater, in “sitcoms” including Roseanne, and at the theater, on Broadway. In the cinema, his most noticed roles were in Gone Girl (2014) and Cocktail (1988), alongside Tom Cruise.
