The initiative # simply stoop from the association Naturfreunde Obertshausen receives 5,000 euros from a profit from the environmental lottery.

An initiative of the Naturfreunde Obertshausen association receives 5,000 euros from a profit in the environmental lottery.

As Lotto Hessen also reports, the money is intended for material and campaigns by a group whose aim is to collect “wild rubbish” in Obertshausen and the surrounding area and to educate others. The initiative uses the concise hashtag “#simplybücken”.

According to Lotto Hessen, the group has been collecting rubbish in places “where litter is noticeable” since last year. The volunteers meet seven to eight times a year for collection campaigns; Obertshausen’s mayor Manuel Friedrich (independent) also lends a hand, they say.

The Facebook group of # Einfachbücken already has around 300 members, and another 450 people are interested in the group via Instagram. The volunteers also declare war on cigarette butts and plastic waste, as well as broken bottles and the remains of dogs. “Many just don’t know that cigarette butts have a lasting impact on the environment and, just like plastic particles, emit toxins into our environment for a long time,” says the initiator, Undine Zimmer. The aim is to sensitize people “without raising your index finger”. The group likes to stick slogans on garbage cans or set up “Kippster” – ashtrays on which the smokers can vote, for example, whether they prefer pizza or pasta when throwing them in. jon
