Dutchman (18) abused by compatriots in Italy

The incident took place on July 27. Both the victim and the four Dutchmen would have been in the same club. According to Italian media, the four, who would have been under the influence of alcohol, first insulted the 18-year-old.

With his parents

He would have wanted to avoid a discussion and left, but he was followed by the foursome as he went to the campsite where he was staying with his parents and he was mistreated.

Medical personnel, who arrived first on the scene, called the police, who were able to identify the four suspects with the help of statements from witnesses. The four Dutchmen, all 20 and 21 years old, have been released, with a charge for the assault in their pocket.

Lawsuit in Italy or the Netherlands

The Italian police could not say this morning whether the suspects have already returned to the Netherlands. It is also not yet known where the lawsuit will play, in Italy or in the Netherlands.

The incident is reminiscent of the fatal assault in Mallorca on June 14, Spain. There, a group of Dutch young people argued with other holidaymakers. The 27-year-old Carlo from Waddinxveen was assaulted and injured so much that he later died of his injuries.

After the incidents, the group of friends, except for one person, quickly left for the Netherlands. The Spanish investigation was recently handed over to the judiciary in the Netherlands. Two arrests have now been made in the Netherlands. This concerns a 19- and an 18-year-old Hilversummer.
