| The main objective of this work is to present, through a theological perspective, the metaphors contained in the best-seller Fernão Capelo Gaivota with the intention of serving as a meditatio genre that found, in Richard Bach’s book, the “problematic” of Catholic spirituality: A belief in reincarnation. According to a study carried out by Professor Dr. Eduardo Jorge Duque with the population of Portugal, 35% of those interviewed who assiduously attend the Catholic Church believe in reincarnation. Therefore, “belief coherence” is defended as a basic premise in the face of the questioning that involves the theme of reincarnation/resurrection, thus encouraging Catholic youth to be coherent in their faith, because just as it does not make sense for a Hindu, a Buddhist or spiritualist to believe in the resurrection, it also makes no sense for a Catholic to believe in reincarnation, because as St. Paul wrote “if there is no resurrection of the dead, neither has Christ raised.
