On the occasion of the Valle d’Itria Festival, Rai Cultura proposes the drama for music in three acts “Orlando Furioso” by Antonio Vivaldi, with libretto by Grazio Braccioli, staged in the 2017 edition of the same Festival, broadcast on Thursday 5 August at 9.15 pm on Rai5. Conducting the “I Barocchisti” orchestra is Diego Fasolis, harpsichord conductor. The protagonists of the opera, directed by Fabio Ceresa, are Sonia Prina (Orlando), Michela Antenucci (Angelica), Lucia Cirillo (Alcina), Loriana Castellano (Bradamante), Konstantin Derri (Medoro), Luigi Schifano (Ruggiero) , Riccardo Novaro (Astolfo).
The choreographies of the Fattoria Vittadini dance company are by Riccardo Olivier, while the choir – composed of Elena Tereshchenko, Alessandra Della Croce, Cristina Fanelli, sopranos; Antonia Fino, Sofia Tumanyan, Rossella Giacchero, mezzosoprani; Domenico Pellicola, Nico Franchini, tenors; and Laurence Meikle, Dielli Hoxha, Massimiliano Guerrieri, bass – is prepared by Ferdinando Sulla.
The new staging was created by the Valle d’Itria Festival in co-production with the La Fenice Theater Foundation in Venice.
