Remember how we wrote about the auction of the fourth-generation Volkswagen Golf GTI with a range of only 13 kilometers? So this practically untouched hot-hatch from 2002 has already found a new owner.

If you don’t know what this is about, we remind you that the Silverstone Auctions auction house auctioned the GTI a few days ago in a limited edition celebrating the 25th anniversary of this famous sports version of the Golf model.
On the specimen with the number 0718, one of only 3000 produced, its condition was the most interesting. Since 2002, the silver hot-hatch has remained with the sole owner, who has kept it in the garage at all times. Golf is therefore only 8 miles, ie about 13 kilometers. And it simply looks like new.

Volkswagen introduced the annual edition of the Golf GTI in 2001. It differed from the standard design in a sportier look with dimmed lights, 18-inch BBS wheels or red brake calipers. The interior featured Recaro sports seats, a perforated leather upholstered steering wheel, and the edition also brought back a row with a golf ball-like head.
In addition to cosmetic changes, the car also benefited from modified technology, in particular the increase in the power of the turbocharged 18-liter engine to 132 kW. However, the special GTI also received a modified chassis or a redesigned exhaust system. The maximum speed was 222 km / h, acceleration from rest to a hundred took 7.9 seconds.

The piece that appeared in the auction was intended for the British market, so it has a right-hand drive. It was auctioned on July 31 without a reserve.
And for how much did he sell? The new owner did not hesitate to pull out 38,250 pounds, ie about 1.14 million crowns. For comparison, the current Golf GTI starts at CZK 853,900, the Clubsport version in the annual edition 45 costs at least CZK 1,093,400.
