R. Kelly’s sexual assault trial will begin Monday. The singer appeared in federal court in Brooklyn. His lawyer explained that he was so broke he couldn’t afford the court transcripts.
His lawyer asked the court to give them to him for free. Devereaux Cannick also explained to Judge Ann Donnely that her client had “gained weight” in prison. “We need to take his steps so that he can have proper attire for his trial. How can we do ?”
The 54-year-old singer is accused of employing people to find him girls, often underage, to have sex with. He was arrested in Chicago in 2019 by New York City police.
In court on Tuesday, R. Kelly behaved strangely: he was rocking back and forth in his chair, he even dozed off and snored at one point. “He’s tired of hearing these allegations. He knows the truth and it is frustrating for him. He believes that when people are sworn, everyone will know the truth. ”
