Colombian star Maluma will also participate in the musical event that is expected to draw thousands upon thousands of people to mark New York City’s dramatic and ongoing return from the COVID-19 pandemic.
The award-winning Colombian singer-songwriter and international superstar has already headlined concerts around the world, becoming the best-selling Latin artist for concerts internationally. He has worked alongside legendary singers and musicians, including Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Ricky Martin, Marc Anthony, and many others.
Maluma will perform on the same stage as Paul Simon, Bruce Springsteen, Jennifer Hudson and other renowned artists from all musical genres at the grand event scheduled for August 21 in the Great Lawn section of the park.
“It’s a great moment for so many people in the city that a star of this caliber joins an already star-studded lineup. This will make something that is incredible even more incredible,” said de Blasio.
Although several artists have since joined the star-studded lineup, Simon, Springsteen and Hudson were the first to be announced by the city and are considered, like Maluma, the headliners of the mega concert.
