The Works by Pen Bron wish to develop a adapted playground to disabled children. They appeal to sponsorship to finance this project at the Institute of Motor Education of the Estran in Saint Nazaire (Loire-Atlantique) and the Special Education and Home Care Service (Sessad) Les Pitchouns. These structures welcome 63 young people aged 18 months to 21 years with multiple disabilities, especially those suffering from a motor impairment.
The objective of this project is to allow children, adolescents and young adults to come together in a common play area.
“This playground will be completely adapted to the handicap of each one, the children will be able to move in a wheelchair or alone and without assistance”, indicates the association Les Œuvres de Pen Bron which manages the establishment.
Putting the game back into everyday life
With this equipment, the IEM wants the game to become an integral part of the daily life of young people.
“Due to a lack of suitable structures, young people take little advantage of the moments shared outdoors. The goal is therefore to broaden this sociability and to increase exchanges between the different units of the IEM. ”
To finance this project, the IEM of L’Estran has just launched a call for donations on HelloAsso. The future play area, estimated at more than 77,000 €, will consist of a wheelchair swing and a swing with nest, a slide as well as a play structure with incremented manipulation games.
Different coverings of various materials and colors will complete the play area to stimulate the senses.
