“Latex pillows can help prevent overheating due to their cellular structure, latex stays naturally cool throughout the night and provides maximum air circulation.”
Bogor (ANTARA) – Student from Bogor, West Java, Nabila Ramdani gave birth to an innovation in the form of a temporomandibular disorder (TMD) relief pillow.
“TMD significantly causes discomfort and affects activities of daily living, such as sleep disturbances,” said Nabila when met in Bogor, Thursday.
According to him, the device that puts forward laser therapy technology is the basis of therapy that is safe, non-invasive, painless, and only requires a short treatment time.
Then, the effect is relatively faster when compared to the treatment of other jaw joint disorders, so that patients can immediately feel it after treatment,
“This innovation is expected to be a solution for TMD sufferers to get better quality sleep and treatment, so that there is no longer a decrease in productivity among the community due to TMD pain and sleep disorders related to TMD,” he said.
The pillow is designed by perfecting the ideal pillow shape, using environmentally friendly materials and ergonomically adjusting the human body posture while sleeping.
Pillow-shaped tools are generally equipped with a timer relay that will stop laser exposure if the tool has worked for 15 minutes. The timer functions to automatically cut off electricity according to a safe dose of low-level laser therapy, which is 660 nanometers.
The pillow material used is latex because it can follow the shape of the head, neck and shoulder pressure so as to provide the right support and comfort.
“Latex pillows can help prevent overheating because of their cellular structure, latex stays naturally cool throughout the night and provides maximum air circulation,” said Nabil.
According to him, this product also uses bamboo fiber as a pillowcase which is antibacterial, hypoallergenic, and can naturally absorb moisture and heat.
He designed this innovation with other medical students, namely Muhammad Refal Akbar, Al Ghumaisha, Ahmad Ghazalli Darwis, and Andi Muhammad Irsyad Baso, accompanied by Dr. Nursyamsi, M.Kes.
Thanks to this innovation, these students managed to get a grant from the Student Creativity Program in the field of Copyright (PKM-KC) from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia.
