Promote the heritage, artistic, human, social and natural factor of the English Way as it passes through Cambre. That is the objective that the City Council seeks to achieve with the Camiño da arte project, framed within the Xunta’s O teu Xacobeo program. To achieve this, the local Executive will have the participation of painters, sculptors, ceramists, architects and illustrators, who will produce pieces of art that will accompany the pilgrims during the realization of the Jacobean route.
The City Council has just put out to contract the execution of this initiative, which will include the realization of artistic pieces, but also the creation of an image and its own web space, the holding of workshops and the elaboration of informative diptychs. The contract for Camiño da Arte will be co-financed by the City Council and the Xunta, which provides an aid of 22,500 euros, and goes out to contract for 45,000 euros.
Camiño da arte will feature, on the one hand, the work of various artists who will create ephemeral art pieces that walkers will be able to appreciate as they pass through the municipality. Each of these elements will be identified with a QR code linked to a website with information about the creator and the project, according to the local government.
The objective, as indicated by the mayor, Óscar García Patiño, is none other than “to promote, publicize and revalue this Jacobean route that passes through our municipality and that attracts thousands of visitors year after year”.
