So hopefully it will be easier to get a console in the future.

A week ago reported we that Sony had sold fantastic ten million Playstation 5 consoles, making it the fastest selling Sony console ever.
But Sony also has another goal, and that is to sell more PS5s during the current financial year – which ends March 31, 2022 – than what the Playstation 4 sold during the corresponding period after its release. The figure to hit is 14.8 million, which means they will have to heel another 12 million consoles by April next year. If they succeed in this, they will have sold over 22 million PS5s in total.
It’s exciting, but perhaps more relevant to us consumers who have not got hold of a Playstation 5 than is that Hiroki Totoki – CFO at Sony – has stated (thank you, VGC) that they have actually secured the chips needed to produce this quantity. Unless something unexpected happens, we can probably therefore expect a steady supply of consoles on the market, even if it takes a while before we can calmly stroll into a store and pick one down from the shelf, according to Jim Ryan.
