Proposals for Foreign Minister Radi Naydenov, grandson of a prominent figure of the Bulgarian Agrarian Union, who …

Not many Bulgarian families have been present in the political life of our country for almost a century. Even more so when it comes to the same first and last name. In this case – Radi Naidenov, nominated for Minister of Foreign Affairs in the draft cabinet of “There is such a people”, writes Labor.

Yes, there is such a name in our history from 1923 until today. Radi Naidenov, the grandfather of Foreign Minister nominee Radi Naidenov, was a participant in the September uprising, hailed as the world’s first anti-fascist uprising.

Naidenov Sr. is a prominent figure in the casino Agrarian Union, who after September 9, 1944 adopted the program of the Bulgarian Communist Party for the construction of socialism in the People’s Republic of Bulgaria and until 1989 was its satellite, as this fact bipartisan democracy.

As a member of the Orange Agrarian Union, Naydenov signed the death sentence of the opposition leader – farmer Nikola Petkov in 1947. His grandfather was one of those who made a great contribution to the imposition of socialist justice in our country – he was irremovable Minister of Justice from 1945 to 1962. in the governments of Georgi Dimitrov, Vasil Kolarov, Valko Chervenkov and Anton Yugov. Only Todor Zhivkov replaced him in 1962, but sent him warmly to the Presidium of the National Assembly, as Grandpa Radi became a Hero of Socialist Labor and a holder of the Georgi Dimitrov Order.

So grandson Radi was born in 1962, if not with a gold, then certainly with a silver spoon in his mouth. He graduated from the elite German High School in Sofia in 1981. He studied International Relations at the Karl Marx Institute (now UNWE) from 1983 to 1989. His path is already clear – in 1993 he completed a course for young diplomats at the European College of research in the field of international and security policy – George Marshall Center. He specializes in Germany, France and the USA.

He began his career as a foreign policy collaborator in the Bulgarian Agrarian Union, which had shaken off the patronage of the Bulgarian Communist Party in 1990, when the leader of the union was Viktor Valkov. People at the time claimed that only Radi Naidenov had the party’s contacts with Western diplomacy. In 1992, he became an expert in the Politics and Security Department at the Ministry of Defense, which later became a factor in his appointment as Deputy Minister of Defense.

He won a competition for young diplomats and went to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in December 1992. He embarked on the path of a career diploma – Attaché, Third Secretary at the Bulgarian Embassy in Switzerland (1994-1996), First Secretary at the Embassy in Germany (1999). – 2001).

Surprising to many is his appointment as deputy defense minister in the former tsar’s cabinet, a post he held from 2001 to 2002. Those who are not surprised by Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’s election, however, say it was under the protection of the former king. agricultural leader, former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Viktor Valkov and the famous Monterey backstage circle, in which Valkov is one of the Tartars.

After Stoyan Ganev was removed from the post of Prime Minister Simeon Saxe-Coburg-Gotha’s chief of staff, Radi Naydenov took his place. And during the time of the Triple Coalition, in which NMSS also participates, Naidenov was sent as Bulgaria’s ambassador to Austria. His merits are also appreciated by Boyko Borissov – during his first government in May 2011, Radi Naidenov was appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, which is the highest position in the diplomatic service.

It is known that Borissov maintained and maintained extremely close relations with Germany and Chancellor Merkel. This is certainly due to our ambassador in Berlin Radi Naidenov. He spent 6 years in the German capital – from 2012 to 2018, except for three months – from January 27 to May 4, 2017, when he was Minister of Foreign Affairs in the first caretaker government of President Rumen Radev.

Since May 21, 2019 he has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria to Switzerland, and since June 26 he has been Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bulgaria in Liechtenstein with headquarters in Bern.

In the failed cabinet of the former tsar’s favorite Nikolay Vassilev, Radi Naydenov was nominated for Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. So the long royal hand in the re-nomination of Radi Naidenov as foreign minister is obvious.

One thing is for sure – if elected, Bulgaria will have as foreign minister an extremely well-prepared career diplomat, with solid ties in the EU and NATO countries. At the age of 58, he knows a lot, has seen a lot, speaks 4 languages. Well, we’ll wait to see what happens if he’s elected.
