Caroline did not take the more usual five years, but eight years to obtain her HAVO diploma. “I was a really terrible teenager,” she says. “I didn’t do anything. I skipped class quite a lot and I often argued with teachers.”

When the politician was now eighteen years old, the turning point came. “I came into a class with children, they had Danny de Munk in the agenda. Not the agenda of now, but really that goofball. Then I thought: Well Caroline, it’s about time you got your diploma. That I did. And it turned out all right.”
One of the biggest mysteries in De Slimste Mens is perhaps why strict but fair jury member Maarten van Rossem always wears black. Well, of course he has an answer for that. And you can see that answer in the video below.
