Three weeks after the flood disaster in mid-July, which caused great damage in our region, DG Minister Antonios Antoniadis (SP) points out the possibility of an interest-free loan.
This loan is intended to help you tackle important repairs quickly. It is also possible to get an interest-free loan for flood protection work.
At the beginning of the week, the DG government enabled those affected by the flood disaster to receive housing allowances of up to EUR 2,500, which are to be understood as a premium and therefore not to be repaid (see report elsewhere).

Nevertheless, many people are still faced with daunting tasks after the massive floods. You need to invest in major renovations as soon as possible, among other things. It is necessary to renew the heating, replace the electrical installation, change the floor covering or take necessary protective measures for the future. Interest-free loans (with 0% APR), made available by the Walloon Social Credit Society (SWCS) for families with up to two children or the Wallonia Housing Fund (FLW) for large families, can help.
“It is possible to obtain such an installment loan if, for example, heating or electrical installations have to be replaced or renovated as a result of flooding,” explained Antoniadis: “This can be particularly helpful if the insurance companies have not yet been able to pay out or only partially . “
The interest-free installment loans can be between 1,000 and 60,000 euros, with a term of up to 30 years. They are income-related and guaranteed by the DG through an agreement negotiated with the lenders.
