The Portuguese Cátia Azevedo qualified for the semifinals of the 400 meters of the Olympic Games, finishing the second qualifying series in third place, with a time of 51.26 seconds.
The 27-year-old sprinter, born in Oliveira de Azeméis, arrived in Tokyo, in her second participation in the Games, by setting the national record, which already belonged to her, in 50.59 seconds.
The 400 meters semi-finals will be played on Wednesday, starting at 7.30pm local time (11.30am in Lisbon).
