“20. The theatrical reforms and discoveries of the 20th century are related to research in the art of professional acting and directing, to the regularities found and tested in practice, which are used in Europe and elsewhere in the world for most of the last century and today. The laws, concepts and language of professionals have been developed, which I wanted to summarize and make known to the students of professional acting and directing mastery in Latvia. It should be noted that the work does not claim to be discoveries, if only to the structure of the laws already discovered in theatrical art, compiled and arranged in the order of their acquisition. These are the laws I have used in my practice as an actor and director, directing performances not only with students, but also by studying the performances of outstanding directors of different nationalities in the 20th and 21st centuries and their theoretical legacy, ”says the author of her book.

In ten chapters of the book, the author provides an insight into the history of theater, focuses on the actor’s work, directing theory and practice, director’s work, musical scores, etc.

Anna Eižvertiņa graduated from the Moscow State Theater Institute (1975) and its postgraduate studies (1980). Several generations of actors see Anna as a teacher.
